Mokpo Modern History Museum Hall No. 2 was a Mokpo branch (June, 1920) of Oriental Development Companyduring the Japanese rule of Korea, and there were a total of 9 branches (Busan, Daegu, Mokpo, Gimje, Daejeon, Gyeongseong, Wonsan, Sariwon, and Pyeongyang) across Koreaso that Japan may monopolize and exploit Korean economy. There were 8 branches in China as well. After independence, it has been used as Navy’s Department of Mokpo’s Security, and military police of Mokpo seas. It has been empty for about 10 years, unused, but in 2006 it has been made into a historic museum and photos of Korea during Japanese Empire and modern days are exhibited to function as a live educational place of historic awareness.
